Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) creator Yuga Labs has won a pre-trial summary judgement in a trademark infringement case against Ryder Ripps and Jeremy Cahen.

April 21 (Cointime) - The Ordinals Wallet, a dedicated wallet designed specifically for storing and managing Bitcoin Ordinals, announced that they have to remove the Bit Apes and Bitcoin Apes collections from their platform at the request of Yuga Labs.

Yuga Labs insisted on the removal of the collections in order to protect their intellectual property rights.

Paris' Centre Pompidou is currently hosting an exhibition called “Policies of the Immaterial: From Certificate to Blockchain,” which explores the relationship between blockchain and art. The exhibition features work from 13 French and international artists picked by the National Museum of Modern Art's acquisition committee. The exhibition also includes CryptoPunks NFTs, with a focus on #110, which is pixel art. Yuga Labs gifted the NFT to the museum, as part of the “Punks Legacy Project."

On April 12, Yuga Labs' ERC-20 token ApeCoin (APE) briefly surged to $90.00 from around $4.20 apiece on the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit before most gains were wiped out in a sharp sell-off. However, the token is still trading at $10.90 apiece at the time of publication, representing a significant premium of around $4.50 compared to other exchanges.

Luxury fashion house Gucci and Yuga Labs, the company behind Bored Ape Yacht Club, have announced Otherside: Relics by Gucci, a limited-edition series of physical Gucci products and NFTs tied to Yuga's metaverse game, Otherside. The first "Relic" to be released will be the KodaPendant, an NFT that represents both a physical piece of jewellery and a non-fungible token that unlocks perks in the Otherside metaverse. Exactly 3,333 KodaPendants will be available for sale beginning on April 6, and can only be bought with Apecoin, Yuga's native cryptocurrency. The KodaPendant will unlock unique cosmetic options for Otherside avatars, and holders of KodaPendants will also be able to claim a real, physical piece of jewellery from Gucci later this year. Last December, Yuga Labs announced the appointment of Daniel Alegre as Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Gucci is strengthening its relationship with Web3. On Monday, the luxury brand announced a multi-year partnership with Yuga Labs, the Web3 company behind several well-known NFT collections, including Bored Ape Yacht Club, Cryptopunks, Mebits, and Narrative NFT Project 10KTF.
