Sam Bankman-Fried built a "backdoor" to his FTX exchange in an effort to change financial records and move funds without alerting others, according to a report by Reuters citing two people with knowledge of the matter.

FTX filed for U.S. bankruptcy proceedings on Friday, capping a week of turmoil for one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges. FTX and its local units had already attracted scrutiny from regulators around the world.

Over $12 million in chainlink (LINK) tokens were sold in early Asian hours across two transactions, shortly after reports of a hack at FTX. 

FTX owes Miami-Dade County, the owners of the facility formerly known as FTX arena, $16.5 million, according to a contract signed last year between the bankrupt exchange.

Late Friday night, a <a href="https://tweetdeck.twitter.com/">message sent</a> in its Telegram stated "FTX has been hacked. All funds seem to be gone."

FTX officials appeared to confirm rumors of a hack on Telegram, instructing users to delete FTX apps and avoid its website.

FTX pinned a message saying "FTX has been hacked" in their main telegram chat.
