The decentralized social network Bluesky announced that it has added support for users to register custom domain names as handles.
"Custom domain handles are a way for us to improve the state of trust and control users have over their social identities online. It builds off the existing infrastructure of DNS, the naming system for websites." Bluesky said in the announcement.
Users can identify authentic accounts by the websites they're associated with, as custom domain handles provide a decentralized form of account verification.
Additionally, users can use the same handle to identify themselves across social media platforms, and custom domain handles remain consistent even when switching services.
