Over Half of Americans Fear ‘Major Impact’ by AI on Workers

A new report from Pew Research found that 62% of Americans believe the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace will have a "major impact" on American workers within the next 20 years, leading to concerns about job security, increased surveillance, and data mismanagement. While 13% of respondents believed AI will help more than hurt American workers, 32% thought the opposite, 32% predicted "AI will equally help and hurt," and 22% were unsure. Pew Research found that 81% of respondents were concerned about being watched "Big Brother" style in an AI-enabled workplace, and 71% opposed the use of AI to make final hiring decisions.
