Microsoft President Brad Smith has joined other tech industry leaders in calling for government regulation of artificial intelligence (AI). Smith suggested that developers should obtain a license before deploying advanced AI projects and that "high-risk" AI should operate only in licensed AI data centers.
He also called on companies to take responsibility for managing the technology and to notify the government when testing begins. Despite concerns, Microsoft has invested over $13 billion into OpenAI and integrated the popular chatbot ChatGPT into its Bing web browser.
