Elon Musk, Twitter's executive chairman, has called for greater regulatory oversight of artificial intelligence, warning that it could become "smarter than all humans at everything" in the future.

Speaking at a Chinese government-backed AI conference, Musk urged regulators to prevent the misuse of "deep intelligence", particularly artificial general intelligence (AGI). AGI refers to a subset of AI that expects machines to compete with or even surpass humans in intelligence, and Musk acknowledged the need for "regulatory oversight" in this area.

Musk also commented on the potential of autonomous vehicles and robots, warning that they could bring "very profound change" to the world and urging caution to ensure they benefit humanity.
