Following the implosion of the old Terra blockchain (now codenamed Terra Classic), Terraform Labs moved to an entirely new chain codenamed Terra 2.0, creating a new digital currency (LUNA 2.0) in the process.

The Terra Classic (LUNC), the project that spun out of the collapsed Terra ecosystem, is set to undergo a number of important upgrades as governance proposals get approved by an overwhelming community vote. With the most recent one being on January 14, some of the major crypto exchanges have partaken in the upgrade. To support the developing activities on the chain, Terra Rebels, the offshoot development community have shown interest in re-building the infrastructure; to much of the community’s dismay.

In the announcement that was made on Friday, Binance revealed that it would be supporting the Terra Classic (LUNC) network upgrade. The upgrade which will be taking place on epoch 15,029 is a result of the LUNC community voting to pass Proposal 11242 which eliminates the re-minting of a portion of the burn tokens. 

The governance voting results on Proposal 11242 in the Terra Classic community prove that re-minting 10% of burned LUNC at the end of each epoch was a step backward in the project’s revitalization movement.

According to a key developer at Do Kwon’s TerraForm Labs, Jared, Terra Classic (LUNC) will be integrated into Terra’s new wallet — the Interchain Station.

The Terra Classic community has set eyes on increasing the burn rates for Terra Classic (LUNC) tokens as the LUNC burn rates dropped in December. Moreover, crypto exchange Binance temporarily suspended its LUNC burn mechanism until March and reduced the burn amount to 50% have also affected the LUNC burn rates.

Edward Kim, Terra Classic developer and associate professor at Drexel University, has proposed eliminating the existing canonical repository for the Terra Classic blockchain. If the proposal passes, code changes made by developers will not be overseen by a central authority but by the active validator set, further promoting decentralization.

Seychelles-based crypto exchange KuCoin recently disclosed that it had to undelegate its 48B LUNC stake because of a switch of the pledge node of its internal financial account, assuring users that it will re-delegate the tokens. The disclosure comes a few days after the exchange suddenly undelegated all 48B LUNC tokens, triggering various concerns among investors, including worries of insolvency.

LUNC, the native token to the original Terra blockchain, which is called Terra Classic, is an underperformer on Thursday, nursing losses of about 5.5% in the last 24 hours. LUNC/USD was last changing hands in the mid-$0.00014s, down about 20% from its earlier weekly highs above $0.00018, but still up about 15% from monthly lows in the $0.000127 area.

Sequel to the unveiling of their Whitepaper, the independent LUNC development group TerraCVita, disclosed to the community some of the ways they intend to raise development funds as well as give more use cases to the embattled digital asset.

Independent Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) development group TerraCVita has announced a date for the launch of a LUNC decentralized exchange (DEX). According to the group, the community should expect the DEX in the early phase of next year’s first quarter. The announcement comes two months after a senior member of the TerraCVita group, Rex Harrison, confirmed intentions to develop a decentralized exchange.

Luna Classic (LUNC) is currently among the most volatile cryptocurrencies. It delivered a bullish performance in the last few days but those gains have been at risk courtesy of LUNC minting concerns.
