Harnessing Social Capital with Aimagine: A New Era of AI Art Ownership and Curation

Cointime Official

By Cointime Lu Tian

Web3 is all about ownership. It represents the evolution towards a decentralized Internet, where users maintain control over their data and actively partake in governing the underlying protocols. This "read-write-own" paradigm empowers individuals to possess assets, be they digital or tangible, without depending on centralized or corporate intermediaries. In essence, users would have the opportunity to hold a stake in the network, reaping the rewards of its growth as a participant and shareholder, rather than being reduced to a mere customer or product.

A prime example of this paradigm shift is Aimagine, a community-curated NFT marketplace and launchpad for AI-generated art on the Arbitrum network. Aimagine cultivates a sense of ownership and earning potential for stakeholders in the decentralized art ecosystem. By catering to art enthusiasts, collectors, and creators, it encourages them to embrace a more proactive and invested role in shaping the future of the digital art landscape.

AImagine: Monetization Your Social Capital in Web3

Aimagine is a no-code launchpad and marketplace for AI-generated art and artists, providing essential tools and analytics for creators to issue content and build their communities.

It is making waves as the first AI NFT marketplace to launch on Arbitrum, offering users a platform where they can turn their imagination into on-chain art that lasts forever. But Almagine is about much more than just creating and launching NFTs - it's also pioneering the first-ever Artist Staking pools, empowering community curation of art in the NFT marketplace. Let's discover how Aimagine is empowering artists and collectors while democratizing the art world.

Aimagine has introduced the concept of "social capital," placing emphasis on the monetization of users' social capital.

What exactly is "Social Capital"? At its core, social capital represents the value derived from people engaging with one another. Investopedia describes it as a "positive product of human interaction."  Web2 has been instrumental in tapping into the power of social capital, giving rise to a myriad of successful online platforms and services that have become integral to our daily lives. However, in the Web2 era, the benefits of social capital have been largely concentrated, accruing to the platforms themselves or to the individuals who garner significant followings. Meanwhile, the followers and fans—the very people driving these interactions—often find themselves on the sidelines, reaping little to no rewards for their engagement and contributions.

In Aimagine, your social interactions are also owned by you.  Leveraging social capital through tokens and pioneering the first-ever Artist Staking pools, Aimagine creates a more inclusive and balanced digital landscape for all stakeholders, from creators to consumers. Aimagine wrote in the whitepaper:

" In the AImagine model, we capitalize the act of following with the $AIMG token. Here, rather than simply follow Artist (or not) as a binary decision, users are able to allocate varying quantities of their Social Capital across as many or as few Artists as they like by staking $AIMG to specific Artist pools."

Artist Staking pools on Aimagine transform passive followers into active curators who are rewarded for their efforts. By staking in these pools, users not only influence which artists launch on the platform, but also earn a stake in the AIMG artist rewards, resulting in an innovative fan token trading experience.

Moreover, Aimagine presents art collectors and enthusiasts with a unique way to collect and trade. Beyond traditional trading and auctions, the platform incorporates a cutting-edge Bid 2 Earn mechanism. In this system, even unsuccessful bidders earn rewards, ensuring that users always benefit from their engagement.

Aimagine Tokenomics: Vote-Stake Mechanism

Blockchain technology facilitates the flourishing of decentralized networks by employing tokens and smart contracts in governance models. Through ownership of network tokens, users gain both a stake in the network and a voice in its governance. The Aimagine ecosystem is supported by its native token, $AIMG. $AIMG serves as the backbone of the platform's revolutionary features, including the Artist Staking pools, which act as a capitalized voting structure to control the success of artists on the platform. This democratic approach puts the wisdom of crowds to work, unearthing the next generation of top AI artists worldwide.

  • Utility: vote-stake

The primary function of the $AIMG token is as a vote-staking mechanism, where token holders can decide which artist should receive a portion of the platform's rewards by staking $AIMG in specific artist pools.

When users stake AIMG tokens for Artists' pools, they are essentially voting for which Artists they want to support. In this sense, the $AIMG token acts as a form of social capital.

  • Staking: earn rewards

Staking is a key aspect of the Aimagine ecosystem, with the $AIMG token used to stake in artists' pools. Incentives and rewards are paid to the staking pools in $AIMG for the benefit of artists.

The platform's rewards consist of $AIMG tokens generated from an inflation supply and those recycled through platform revenue. As the supply is fixed, early rewards will predominantly be composed of inflation, while later-cycle rewards will be derived from revenue. Artists are expected to develop their own economic assets and contribute to the rewards pools within their ecosystems.

Over time, staking acts as a global economic control function in the Aimagine model, performing two critical functions: setting the amount of recycled $AIMG for burning before distribution and sending excess $AIMG to the treasury.

  • Deflationary: Burn and recycle

The $AIMG token is designed to be deflationary. A portion of the platform's revenue will be used to purchase $AIMG tokens and burn them. The burn rate will be determined by the amount of $AIMG staked. When more $AIMG is staked, the burn rate will decrease. This means that the total supply of $AIMG tokens will decrease over time, which should increase the value of the token.

The price of the $AIMG token will be determined by supply and demand. The supply of $AIMG tokens will be fixed, but the demand for the token will depend on the number of users who want to stake their tokens for artists and the amount of platform revenue that is used to purchase and burn $AIMG tokens.

Overall,  the native token, $AIMG, serves as a vote-staking instrument and form of social capital,  will help to grow the platform's ecosystem and create a more sustainable community. The token's utility is accessed through staking, with staking pools in the Aimagine ecosystem benefiting artists and users. As the platform continues to grow, so will the efficiency and liquidity of the $AIMG markets, ultimately benefiting all participants.

Conclusion

By leveraging social capital through its native $AIMG token, Aimagine empowers artists, collectors, and enthusiasts to actively participate in the platform's governance, transforming passive followers into active curators and stakeholders.

However, the platform faces challenges common to every Web3 project, specifically in overcoming adoption barriers, as users must acquaint themselves with Web3 technologies and digital wallets. Additionally, regulatory uncertainties surrounding blockchain technology and NFTs could potentially impact the platform's growth and prospects.

Furthermore, Aimagine must prioritize the security and privacy of user data as well as establish the trustworthiness of the platform's underlying technology. Achieving a balance between decentralization, user experience, and security is essential for the platform's long-term success.

  • EU member states prepare to enforce landmark crypto law, MiCA

The European Union is set to enforce MiCA, a crypto law that mandates national regulators to license and supervise service providers. While the regulation is EU-wide, countries can implement slightly different technical standards that crypto firms must adhere to. MiCA's specialized rules for stablecoin issuers will take effect in a few months, followed by licensing and other requirements for crypto firms broadly in December. Each jurisdiction must transpose the EU regulation into local law, select which of their regulators will oversee crypto, and prepare to authorize token issuers and other service providers. Regulators are facing challenges in implementing the new legislation, particularly in terms of licensing requirements, and each country's crypto industry has its own concerns about implementation and proposed laws.
