Binance, the world's largest crypto exchange, was named as a counterparty in an order against the little-known cryptocurrency exchange, Bitzlato, accused of laundering $700 million by U.S. authorities on Wednesday.

The U.S. Department of Justice got schooled in how not to manage expectations on Crypto Twitter Wednesday morning after it teased the announcement of an "international crypto enforcement action" in a move that immediately caused declines in the price of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.   

Anatoly Legkodymov, the founder of Hong Kong-registered crypto exchange Bitzlato, was arrested in Miami on Wednesday and charged with allegedly running an unregistered money-transmitting business that flouted anti-money laundering laws and facilitated illicit fund transmissions, the U.S. DOJ announced Jan. 18.

The founder of cryptocurrency exchange Bitzlato was arrested and charged with processing $700 million in illicit funds, part of the Justice Department's efforts to take down a "money laundering engine" which it says "fueled a high-tech axis of cryptocrime."
