April 13 (Cointime) - Zooko Wilcox, the founder of digital currency Zcash, claims that two major privacy services on the Ethereum platform: Tornado Cash and Aztec Connect, were "shut down" by OFAC sanctions
In response, EthHub co-founder sassal.eth clarified that Tornado Cash service is still operational and most validators continue to propose blocks containing Tornado Cash transactions, while Aztec Connect was voluntarily shut down by its creators, the Aztec team, who want to focus on their new product.
"Tornado Cash was never "shut down" - it still runs to this day and most validators are still proposing blocks that contain Tornado Cash transactions. Aztec Connect was shut down because the Aztec team wants to focus on their new product - they have explicitly stated that it was not shut down due to regulatory pressure." sassal.eth wrote in a tweet.
Additionally, sassal.eth pointed out that Zcash could potentially face similar sanctions to Tornado Cash, though that would not necessarily result in a shutdown.
I really don't expect this sorta crap from industry leaders like Zooko and since he disabled replies to this tweet I'll have to correct this misinformation here.
