OpenSea Announces Creator Fee Policy Won't Change Until At Least December 8

Cointime Staff· 1 min read

In a Twitter thread this morning, OpenSea, the leading NFT marketplace, announced new optional creator royalties.

We’ve been listening to you in Spaces, 1:1 conversations, and in the comments. We really appreciate you sharing your perspectives, making time for conversations, and showing your passionate support for creators.

2/ It’s become clear to us that we should continue to protect creator fees for collections created using our shared storefront. These fees will remain unchanged until at least 12/8 - the deadline we gave ourselves to come out with a firm stance.

3/ To be *super* clear, this means that OpenSea will continue enforcing creator fees for any collections created using the “Create” button on OpenSea until at least December 8, 2022.

We hope many creators will use our tool and others to take control of their business model. And we hope more marketplaces choose to enforce fees as a default in the future.
