Cointime:Can you use one sentence to tell us what Forj is and what problems it solves?
Forj is a subsidiary of Animoca Brands, we are like the incubation hub of Animoca. Our foundation includes audience aggregation, distribution, tools and platform. We empower innovation in Web3. As we get majority acquisition by Animoca Brands, we get a lots of inquiries on partnerships building metaverse experiences and setting up storefronts. Clients see us as a payment company, so the switch forge partnerships as Forj makes the conversation go much smoother.
Cointime:What are your proudest achievements after the strategic shift? Anything you think Forj could have done better?
Harry Liu:For our metaverse arm——Found Metaprints, create metaverse experiences at scale.Metaprints announced a series of exclusive partnerships with major #Web3 brands, bringing them into the metaverse through unique activations over the coming years, including multi-year agreement with Polygon to build experience for them and their ecosystem partners.Launch 1st BAYC experience in The Sandbox, 165 visits, 46k unique players, 17 minutes unique duration.
Launchpad arm——One of the reason we were acquired is we built powerful tools in the past, we have 30+ projects launched last 2 years.After becoming the Launchpad of Animoca Brands, we helped launch Phantom Galaxies and Altava last year, both of them are doing well in the bear market.
One thing we could have done better is that,We could have educated more in 1st half of the year.Since the second half of the year, we focused a lot of more on education, sharing ecosystem insights, such as Animoca Open.Metaverse, Yuga Labs IP updates, these research have produced extraordinary results in both audience and enlighten builders to build with successful case studies.We learned when we empower others, we get empowered too.
Cointime: Can you share some key data on Forj’s performance? How many audiences reached, projects launched? Any project sales and revenue data?
$20M+ in sales,Looking to support more projects in this mini bull run.
Cointime: Forj submitted Ape Accelerator AIP to ApeCoin DAO, and I know you are working on the APE launchpad. How does the launchpad work and what does it mean to Ape ecosystem and to community members?
The concept Ape Accelerator is we see 210+ projects been featured. Instead of workign in silo, we can work together as a group. From lore development, game development, metaverse interoperable characters, sales distribution, tools and platforms, all can work together to reduce friction and increase efficiency. It will be the first PPF driven decentralized accelerator. Where it will use $ApeCoin and Yuga Labs collection holders such as BAYC, MAYC, Punks, Meebits, BAKC to give priority access to participate.
On the project side, we will vet the best of the best projects that would add value to apecoin ecosystem.This week we hear the sad news one of the leading Otherside guild, OG collective shut down for business. If the AIP is approved sooner, we could have support their NFT sales.
Cool Cats FC is a great example where we are able to support the project collaboratively in bear market; where Animoca Brands network effect took place.In short, [1] Distribution [2] Funding [3] Strategic Partnerships are the areas of value add to project , holders of the NFTs and token in apecoin ecosystem get to participate in high quality projects.
Cointime: Forj have another big move last year, they partnered with Polygon for a new collection Polygon Pet and issued $PETS token, how many Polygon Pet owners for now? What is the utility of $PETS token?
Official polygon mascot——We’ve done giveaway campaigns for polygon eco to claim these pets.In the coming months, we are looking to bring them to The Sandbox,where $PET tokens would be used for tickets purcaset to access these experiences 3400 holders.
Cointime: Forj launched Bondly Collectible Card Game 2 years ago, does Forj have any new plans for BCCG to adapt to the changing market?
1 year in web3 is a long time ,we have seen the rise and falls of land and PFP craze. PFP is about storytelling, web2 brand experience, BCCG started as collection for launchpad participant with unique characters and weapons. We are transitioning them to ERC1155 pass to make it more simple for new audience to understand.Especially when we have 50M+ network of audience in Animoca Brands, the more simple it is the lower the friction for adoption.
Cointime: Forj projects and owned brands almost covered all the top blockchain trends, as we mentioned before, you have Cryptosaur NFTs, and you have Mocaverse for metaverse, PolkaPets for Game-Fi, you have launch pad and tech modules, how can these projects benefit each other and flourish Forj’s ecosystem? Which project do you think would become the first big hit or earn the highest return on revenue?
[1] Distribution network——In the Web3 world where innovation happens daily we focus on empower these innovation where extraordinary network in Animoca, Yuga Labs and Polygon. PolkapetPets NFT audience get to participate Mocaverse whitelist raffle BCCG holders to get to access projects in Yuga Labs ecosystem. We see ecosystem becomes more collaborative,where IPs and stories can be co-developed.
[2] All NFT leads to metaverse——Open metaverse is the area where utility would be realized. From social hubs to immersive games,Imagine holding a BCCG NFT gives you access to a teaser experience for a concert, or watch a fantacy football game with Neymar.
[3] All ecosystem players need education——Each of us starts a unique journey.We come across path because we are willing to learn, we become collectors, X2E players, builders NFT, CT, enthusiasts all share similar sentiment, which is finding great projects to support.And it is our responsibility to educate where all of us here don’t ask the question, when moon, what do you think about this project?
Cointime: Web3 projects faced challenges in the past year, what’s the biggest challenge Forj faced last year?
The fall of 3AC, FTX has compound the problem, trust needs to be rebuild .Most projects struggle this year with 2 themes.
