Horvitz aims to highlight both the potential benefits and risks of AI. On the same day, Horvitz also signed a paper titled "Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war," indicating his concern for the potential dangers of AI. Microsoft has shown a strong interest in AI, including the investment of $10 billion to acquire 49% of OpenAI LP company and involvement in the Canton Network blockchain project, which aims to simplify financial markets.
