Microsoft has announced that its Dev Box cloud-powered workstations will be publicly available in July 2023. The Dev Box provides developers with preconfigured, ready-to-code cloud-based PCs to save time when switching between different projects and avoid laborious onboarding processes. It is built on the foundations of Windows 365 and can support any integrated development environment (IDE), software development kit (SDK), or tools that already run on Windows. Developers can configure Dev Boxes with up to 32 vCPUs, 128GB of RAM, and 2TB of storage. Microsoft engineers are already using Dev Boxes across various teams within the company.
