Japan's Privacy Watchdog Warns OpenAI to Minimize Sensitive Data Collection for Machine Learning

Japanese officials are taking a stricter stance on artificial intelligence (AI) after the country's privacy watchdog warned the parent company of ChatGPT about its data collection methods. The Personal Information Protection Commission has asked OpenAI to minimize the amount of sensitive data it collects for machine learning and not to do so without people's permission. The commission also emphasized the need to balance privacy concerns with fostering the potential benefits of AI. Japanese lawmakers are also pushing for regulations to protect copyright holders from AI algorithm infringement.
