The team behind Base, a blockchain network supported by Coinbase, is preparing for an upcoming mainnet launch, subject to certain conditions being met. These conditions include the stability of the testnet, Optimism's successful upgrade of Bedrock, and the completion of reviews and audits.

Base is built on Optimism's development software stack and aims to serve as a rollup network, facilitating faster and cheaper transactions while maintaining the security benefits of the Ethereum mainnet. Following the mainnet rollout, developers will be able to deploy apps with direct support from the Base core team during a "genesis window" period, and notable DeFi platforms like Uniswap and Aave are considering deploying on Base.
