Solana Labs will make improvements to its software upgrade process to ensure network reliability and uptime, co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko said on Tuesday.

Solana has faced renewed criticism after the blockchain network experienced its tenth downtime on Feb. 25 and into the following day. The network was widely mocked on social media and forums, including r/cryptocurrency. In one forum thread, a user wrote, “Giving a second chance is one thing I can get behind. An 11th chance, on the other hand, is beyond delusional.” Additionally, people made jokes about the bumpy restart of Solana, and in the Discord server, validators discussed adding their phone numbers to receive text messages about future restarts.

Despite efforts by Solana developers to discourage spammy transactions that could threaten to bog down the network, a majority of the network’s compute is still being wasted on failed trades, according to an analysis by crypto infrastructure company Jito Labs.

On Saturday at about 6:37 UTC, the Solana blockchain experienced reduced functionality, and users reported a significant slowdown in block finalization, along with some transaction failures. Solblaze, the liquid staking pool, reported that while Solana did not completely stop block production, it did experience a slowdown due to a forking event.

Solana Spaces will close down its two Solana-themed, community-oriented retail stores in New York City and Miami at the end of the month, as the physical stores didn’t onboard as many users as initially anticipated. Solana Spaces tweeted the news on Feb. 21, sharing a note from founder Vibhu Norby explaining the reasons behind the store shutdowns. Norby — who founded Solana Spaces in early 2022 — explained that the company reached an “inflexion point” with the stores, prompting them to shift its investment focus to “DRiP,” the firm’s new nonfungible token artwork airdrop platform. The price of Solana ($SOL) has moved up nearly 30% over the last seven days to now trade above the $26 mark, as the cryptocurrency has been quickly recovering from the collapse of FTX, and as developers keep building on it.

Solana (SOL) is starting the week on a very bullish note, with its price up 12.62% to $26.61, according to data from CoinMarketCap. Per its current price action, Solana is now up by more than 26% over the trailing seven-day period, doubling its rank as one of the best-performing Layer-1 protocols for this year.
