Opera becomes first web browser to integrate native crypto wallet
Major web browser, Opera, is releasing an exclusive version of the portal that will incorporate a built-in crypto wallet.
This isn’t Opera’s first step into the crypto world. In January of this year, the company included anti-cryptojacking software into their web and mobile browsers.
According to the press release issued by Opera, the crypto wallet will automatically add both tokens and collectibles into user’s wallets. It will utilize Ethereum Web3 API and will be loaded with a principle WebView.
Charles Hamel, Opera product manager states, “Our hope is that this will accelerate the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation and investment to being used for actual payments and transactions in our users’ daily lives.”
Hamel continues by noting that Opera’s decision to move forward as the “first major browser to open up to Web 3.0” is a step into the right direction by allowing users to easily access “the internet of the future.”
